Volunteer Opportunities

Important Info

As a non-profit organization, Susquehanna STEM to the Skies needs dedicated volunteers to give docent tours and help to run many upcoming events.  New volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation, which is held once a month, and additional training and clearances may be required for specific volunteer positions.  Active volunteers are asked to record a minimum of 6 hours of work per month, annually.

We strive to provide our local youth with effective tools and life skills that will be required for success in post-secondary education and career endeavors.  In order to foster efficient learning, we must foster a safe environment for our children.  Therefore, once volunteer status has been made, a background check may be conducted for those over 18 years of age depending on the position assigned.  Information gathered from these checks do not necessarily preclude volunteering, but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability for an assignment.  Possible required clearances are free to obtain and are as follows:

  1. Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP); and
  2. Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse).
